Every time FIFA world cup happens there is a list of players those who are on the verge of making their way out or call it off for the national side. Mainly due to bad form or an ill- advised move to join a new club. The few names are Ronaldinho of Brazil , Sebastian Veron of Argentina, Beckham of England and Cannavaro of Italy.

Not playing in World Cup ?
Ronaldinho has got the vision and still can do the magic with the ball. But watching him playing for AC Milan one thing is sure he is not the same and he cannot match the pace of a few colleagues like Kaka, Luis Fabiano or Robinho. Though the final call will be Dunga’s but it’s really easier to find AC Milan Midfielder Seedorf who is 33 years old than finding Fabiano or play one on one with Kaka.
Sebastian Veron after the win in Copa Libertadores playing for Estudiantes de La Plata was praised by the god of football Maradona. He said Juan Seabstian Veron is one of the finest play makers in the world. No wonder why he was chosen for FIFA 100 by Pele.
He compensates his lack of pace with lovely passes, powerful long shots and his set pieces. As Argentina already struggled in the qualifiers and December 16th in the friendly against Spain we will get a chance to see does he has it to make it to the national team or not.
David Beckham we all know how effective can he be form a direct free kick or a corner. In recent past he has shown his eagerness to play for England and has said 2010 world cup is my only motive to join Milan. He is probably one of the victims of choosing a wrong club at the right time.
Cannavaro of Italy the FIFA world cup winning captain and the FIFA player of the year 2006 making him the only defender in the history of football to win the award. It’s not long since in 2006 when he lifted the cup though many of us didn’t like the way Italy played but they deserved to win. He has got the capability of holding the defense line intact and keeping it organized. That was one of the biggest strength of Italy in 2006. But can he replace Alessandro Gamberini who is currently at his best and that too at the age of 36.
These big names are likely to miss the world cup but more than that we are going to miss them. I will not call it a loss of football because all these guys have been through their prime time.

Er…Cannavaro is actually still a fix starter for Italy. If he doesn’t get injured he will be there at 100%.
by the time world cup starts he will be 36 ….. and the recent form of Alessandro Gamberini is likely to upset Cannavaro….with that the relationship with the spanian coach is not good. I am a big fan of Cannavaro but i still wonder if he will make it to the world cup.
dude.. i know nthng abt this football thing.. but ur article was good…. atleast i was able to get some sense outta dat.. good one..
“but more than that we are going to miss them”
This is a true statement in the article Arni..!!.. hope they make it n we can once again see there magic..!!..
I c all the Beckhams and others but surely Ronaldinho will make’t 2 da World Cun here in SA coz he’s back on form and he’s amazing….as for Cannavaro? is the coache’s decision 2 include or exclude him
Quite informative!! Looks like the Football Fever is slowly gripping. Since I do not know many of the players and the happenings, your article pulled me closer to the Football action, with lots of facts.
Beckham is in definitely in the squad , Cannavaro wont feature in their first team plans even if he is in the squad . Veron was never really a star on the WC platform as compared to the rest .
You could have added the likes of Zidane who played in the last WC and will definitely be missed. But for every star who fades there are new ones that shine . Surely , they will not be missed , there is plenty of talent still to electrify the WC.
I just hope that they make it… but the age..the fitness level and the form can relly upset them!! and dude its never really easy to jump big cubs without a star standard…Veron was a star..u can say am a little biased!
Including Zidane !!! That way i would have include maradona and pele too.
I dint really understand you ‘jump big clubs without star standard’ . There are plenty of players who are not as good for their country as they are for the club(anelka, lots of brazilians , even messi though he is very young) and there are plenty of players who have switched big clubs in the past but are not stars.(Zenden , eidur gudjhonsen , silvestre ).
Did maradona , pele play the last WC ? I said you could have used zidane as a star who we would miss from the last WC and would definitely not be in this one .
The dabate is on Veron.. i like every other Argentinian Footballer..Ortega,Aimar,Lopez though they have not own any world cup for their team but i call them stars…i am sure we can have a debate on it…i just told you I am biased.
If you see the wrtting i have a group of players those are currently playing but will not make it to the world cup in my view.. Zidane has retired from all form of football long back. what i think i have missed is Raul.
