Sourav thinks twitter is for jobless people

For those who were missing Dadaism on twitter may not have to wait more. Sourav Ganguly declared yesterday that he is on twitter though he doesn’t quite understand how to use it. While commentating yesterday during the second test match between India and England, Dada revelaed that he has an account on twitter. The discussion on twitter started in the commentary box last afternoon when the commentators were discussing Michael Vaughn’s explosive tweet in which the former England captain suggested that Laxman had used ‘vaseline’ on the edges of his bat to fool the Hotspot technology. During the discussion Sourav was asked whether he has an account on the popular microblogging site. Sourav said yes even though he expressed his inability to handle it.

Sourav’s twitter handle (username) is @souravganguly87. Sourav does not have a photo on the account as his display picture. While he posted his first tweets on the 14th of July, he has made only 6 tweets so far.

Sourav follows his favorite footballer Kaka and a sports reporter associated with a Hindi news channel. In fact, it was this reporter who had first tweeted about Sourav’s twitter account almost 2 weeks ago. Still many had their doubts regarding the authenticity of the account. All the doubts got cleared yesterday when Sourav announced his twitter arrival on air. More than 2400 users have already followed the account. But will Sourav remain active on twitter circles? May be not as he seems to have strong feelings about the site. Sourav also mentioned yesterday that twitter is for jobless people who have nothing better to do. Fellow commentator supported Sourav over this. Sourav fans who use twitter may find it hard to digest.

Who got the shastribot account suspended? Ravi Shastri?

‘That went like a tracer bullet’ when the cricket fans on twitter realised that the @shastribot account has been suspended by twitter. Ravi Shastri‘s oft used cliches are boring but a twitter account set up with the name @shastribot had brought smiles on the faces several cricket fans by using those cliches. If you tweet a cricket tweet, there was high chances that the @shastribot, who had more than 7000 followers on the website, would respond to your tweet with a trademark Shastri cliche. Not anymore. To the tweeple’s surprise, the account has been suspended for quite some time. When you go to the account’s url twitter.com/shastribot the message on the screean reads “Account suspended. The profile you are trying to view has been suspended.” It is quite intriguing why would twitter suspend shastribot. Twitter across the globe are expressing their displeasure over suspension of the spoof account. Some even doubt Ravi Shastri’s hand behind it. In the past, many accounts that spoof celebrities or brands have been suspended by twitter on complains from the concerned celebrities. From that point of view, needle of suspicion is over Ravi Shastri though there is no confirmation yet.

After learning this sorry incident, we have just one question to ask, “is that what the doctor ordered? Was @shastribot just like the flash in the pan?” May be the Real Shastri can answer. But twitter surely lost a ‘cool customer of the game’.
