Round 3 action of the Spanish La Liga season continued on Sunday which turned out to be a strange day with a lot of drawn results and low goal scoring action compared to Saturday.  Here’s providing a quick roundup.

Rayo Vallecano laments missed penalty

Madrid club Rayo Vallecano will be kicking themselves as they let Real Zaragoza off the hook and finished their match in a 0-0 draw.  The big moment of the match was the missed penalty by Vallecano player Javi Fuego and a controversial disallowed goal in the 93rd minute which may have given the locals all three points.

Racing – Levante

Perhaps the most boring match of the round was Racing Santander vs Levante which finished in a tame 0-0 draw.  There is absolutely nothing to talk about the match and a Spanish siesta would be a better option.

Betis gets the winner

Sevilla club Real Betis managed a last moment victory over poor Real Mallorca in the 86th min when Ruben Castro scored the winner.  Earlier Betis had hit the post via a Molina header in the 43rd min.  Betis have six points to date and are high up the ladder in the La Liga table.

Osasuna celebrate a goal

Osasuna vs Sporting Gijon turned out to be an entertaining game with the home team winning it 2-1.  The goals for Osasuna came early in the 17th min via Nino and in the 29th min via Cejudo.  Osasuna relaxed after the goals, thus letting Sporting find a goal in the 75th min via David Barral, thus a window in getting into the match.  That however did not materialize as Osasuna emerged winners as Sporting never looked sharp enough.

Sergio Garcia scores for Espanyol

Espanyol managed to defeat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 in a very tactical game that created little chances until the end.  Sergio Garcia scored Espanyol’s two goals (24th and 72nd mins) by outwitting the Bilbao defence.  Bilbao equalized precisely during the best moment of the match when Fernando Llorente scored in the 62nd min, but Espanyol were not to be denied the victory as they found the winner.
