Tamil Nadu will host defending champions Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy final at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium Jan 19-23.

Tamil Nadu have entered their first Ranji Trophy final since 2003-04. They beat Mumbai in the semi-final by virtue of their first innings lead at the Wankhede Stadium here Friday.

Tamil Nadu, runners-up eight times, have won the Ranji Trophy twice earlier — in 1954-55 and 1987-88, the last time in Chennai.

Rajasthan created history in 2010-11, going all the way from the Plate Group to the Ranji Trophy final, and winning the title for the first time. It was their first Ranji title, after being runners-up eight times. Rajasthan beat Haryana by 64 runs with a day to spare in the semi-final at Lahli, near Rohtak, Thursday.
