Across the playoff brackets, there’s no other matchup which features so many superstars. The supposed underdogs in this series, if you can indeed have underdogs between teams such as these, are the New York Knicks. But their superstar, Carmelo Anthony has been on fire, charging down headfirst in the playoffs rearing his head for a challenge. He can carry an offense on his own and he may need to when the Heat clamp down defensively.

The Miami Heat are scary good and near unbeatable when the Big 3 are making their outside shots, and they can intimidate and demoralize teams like few others can. When LeBron and Wade are running the break, the defense feels like its falling down a cliff and all they can do is flail their arms to no avail. The Knicks do have one player who has been on the other side of this Heat team in the postseason and helped to beat them, Tyson Chandler. Chandler and the Mavericks did what no other team in the NBA could do in the postseason last year but had been chanting the mantra all year, “Beat the Heat”. But his presence in the starting lineup is questionable for the first game as he’s struggling with the flu. The Knicks need him to anchor their defense and without him the Heat will have a field day taking it inside.

This series rekindles a decade old rivalry in the NBA and its expected to be one of the most watched series of this postseason. The Heat are favoured to advance by pundits, but so were the Lakers against the Mavericks last year. And we all remember how that played out. Anytime such heavyweights go up against each other you can expect high octane hoops drama.

LeBron James is the one to watch out for close, last year his failure to get a ring brought unprecedented derision towards him from all quarters, even the fourth, and he can’t be burning with more rage to go out and prove himself and take the Heat to not one, not two…well to start with make that one championship then he an go and fulfill his promise of getting a bunch of other rings.
