Australian teenager made a winning start to his campaign at the BMW Open in Munich, Germany with a straight sets win over Belgian Oliver Roochus. Tomic won 6-4, 6-3 to move into the second round of the event. It was his 15th match win of the season on the tour.
“I think I played very good from the baseline,” commented Tomic. “I served really good and I think I also played the big points at the right time. Those little key changes in the match made me win. It’s a different feeling now, being seeded for an [ATP World Tour] 250 event. I feel very confident the way I’m playing now on clay as of two weeks ago. I think I’ve got a very good chance to play well and go deep into the tournament.”
