There has been nothing but encouragement for Chelsea ahead of the Champions League final on Saturday night, because of the comments that came out of the Bayern camp in the aftermath of their cup defeat last weekend.

The club’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer who openly admitted to concerns over the fitness of their Captain and their “Crazy midfield” for Saturday night has said:

“I assume that Müller will come into the starting XI. With Ribéry, Müller, Robben, behind them Schweinsteiger and Kroos we would have a crazily attacking midfield. But perhaps also a somewhat unpredictable one.

With Schweinsteiger you sense that he is still not 100% fit after his injury.

But despite the debacle against Dortmund, the Champions League final is not lost by a long shot. And I would not like to imagine that Bayern will be without a single title at the end.”

A lot has been made of the suspensions both sides have and it WILL BE how both clubs deal with the problems. You can bet your life that Robbie Di Matteo would have seen the way Bayern lined up against Dortmund and the problems they have had at the back, and that was with some of the players who ARE suspended for the final.

If the President is already talking of an “Unpredictable, Crazy” midfield then it can only work in Chelsea’s favour to catch them out time and time again on the counter attack.

Bayern Munich ARE a dangerous side with the ball, but without it, WILL BE defensively weak through the midfield and this is where Chelsea can get on top, dominate and win the game.

There’s plenty of encouragement for Chelsea ahead of this one.
