The F1 circus heads to Monte Carlo (Monaco) for the sixth round of Formula 1 World Championship. Caterham-Renault started the season on a high, but have been far off the pace during the last four races. Here is what they had to say before the Monaco Grand prix weekend gets underway.
Heikki Kovalinen is cautiously optimistic heading into the weekend as last year he managed to finish 14th, one of the highest finishes of the season for the Caterham-Renault. This year he hopes to finish even higher as the nature of the track is likely to bunch up , which according to Heikki will give him a good opportunity to fight in the midfield, something which he hasn’t been able to do in last few races. Also, this year the team has KERS and is better on its tyres than some other midfield teams, which should boost Heikki’s chances of a good result.
Vitay Petrov is no stranger to Monaco as he has raced a lot in GP2 and twice in F1. Speaking ahead of the weekend’s race, Vitay is looking forward to the Monaco GP, as the track in itself is a real test of a driver’s skill. Also the close walls and the nasty bumps means that driver’s have to focus hard on each lap of the race, as even a little mistake will prove costly. This is something that Vitaly loves and is eager to start in Sunday’s race. Like his team mate, he too hopes to fight with the midfield, and hopefully score a decent result for the team.
