Rosa Mendes involved in a car accident

It has been reported on WWE.com that Rosa Mendes, the valet for former WWE Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo, was involved in a car wreck in Las Vegas late Friday nght. Another car was reported to have hit Rosa’s car while she was at a stoplight, hitting her while going an estimated 50 miles per hour. The accident has been confirmed to be the other driver’s fault, and Rosa was taken to a hospital in the area for a physical evaluation. There are no more details at this time on the condition of Rosa Mendes.

Although car accidents are never a good thing, this couldn’t come at a worse time if she was injured. Rosa Mendes (real name: Milena Roucka) despite being with the company for six years, is just now getting her first real exposure with the company, and definitely the biggest push for both her and the former Tag Team Champions. Mendes started in developmental territory OVW in 2006, and made her official WWE debut in 2008 as an obsessed fan of Beth Phoenix. Eventually, she joined forces with Phoenix and Phoenix’s then-onscreen boyfriend Santino Marella, eventually moving onto a brief relationship with Carlito, the brother of Primo and cousin of Epico.

From there, she spent some time on ECW as the valet for Zack Ryder. Although she and Ryder had a lot of chemistry and fans seemed to enjoy them together, the relationship was however short-lived, and Rosa wound up getting lost in the shuffle for most of 2010 and 2011, only getting sporadic matches on Friday Night Smackdown!, losing pretty much all of them in short order.

Late last year, she was paired up with Epico and Primo, who were both also more or less floundering in the mid-card after a brief partnership with Hunico. In December, she led the team to their first championship, defeating then-champions Air Boom (Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston) at a house show, holding them until April 30th. Shortly thereafter, the three were signed by the returning AW for his new “All World” faction, with AW promising to take them all to new heights. Although the former champions have not gotten their mandatory rematch yet, AW has told fans it is coming soon, but only when the time is right.

Although she has been misused in the past, Rosa Mendes is one of the most marketable divas in the company (at least, in my opinion), and much better in the ring than she is given credit for. No other details about her accident are known at this time, but I personally hope that no major injuries were suffered, and she makes a speedy recovery.
