Summer Transfer Window: Big names on the move
The summer transfer window is often just full of speculation and ‘will they won’t they deals’. Here is a run down of some of the transfer targets that could happen.
A lot of different stories have been produced about this Belgium wonder kid for some time now. Some reports suggest he has agreed terms already with the two Manchester clubs along with Chelsea. He has personally said he will make his final decision after England’s warm up game against Hazards native Belgium, which will see England’s final preparations for the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.
However, some reports say he has already said he wants to join the Red Devils, as he doesn’t think he will play enough for Mancini’s Sky Blues. I, personally, think he will end up going to Champions League winners Chelsea. I think this because what with Kalou and Drogba leaving, this easily opens a gap for Hazard, as he is equally suited to playing on either wing or through the middle. The price tag for the 21 year old will probably within the region of £30-35 million.
The Brazilian Porto star Hulk looks destined for Chelsea, but I think the buy-out clause of €100 million could put them off. But would they want Hazard and Hulk? I think they would, and Abramovic can definitely afford it. They will also want to retain the Champions league trophy too, so may opt for both. If they have Hulk and Hazard, they would be strong contenders in the league as well.
This transfer rumour has sort of carried on from last summer really. The Barcelona and Brazilian wing-back has been linked with a move to Manchester City. I am not sure why the Premier League champions would want him really, as they all ready have a fine player in Micah Richards.
Alves is fantastic going forward, but on his defensive duties, not much so. For me, he would be too much of a liability really, and I have heard he could cost between £20-25 million.
The centre attacking American midfielder has been linked with Arsenal after declaring to a newspaper that his dream is to play in the Champions League. Dempsey has been in fine form for Martin Jols’ Fulham at Craven Cottage, netting 23 goals in all competitions this term. I would think he would go to Arsenal, and he would be an asset to any team.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been chasing this Rennes defensive midfielder for ages! I think it would be a great move, as they need someone alongside Alex Song to really strengthen their midfield and protect their unreliable centre backs, so they can cut out conceding sloppy goals.
Chelsea’s European hero. He score the equaliser in the 87th minute in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, then scored the winning penalty where Chelsea beat the German side in a penalty shoot-out. A week after the game, the Ivory Coast front man called time on his Chelsea career, saying he ‘wants a new challenge’.
He has won the Premier League, the F.A Cup and the Uefa Champions League now, what else is there to do? Rumour has it that he is going to join his former Chelsea team-mate Anelka, where he is player manager in Shanghai. Or Drogba could join PSG, or maybe even join former team Marseille, whom he left in 2004 to join Chelsea.
