World Championship match added to WWE No Way Out

If you’ve seen Friday Night Smackdown this past week, you know that Alberto Del Rio is the new #1 contender for Sheamus’ World Championship, having defeated Kane and Randy Orton in a triple threat match. Tonight on RAW, it was made official that Del Rio will get his shot at No Way Out.

This match was actually supposed to happen at Over the Limit, as Del Rio had earned a title match with Sheamus following a non-title victory over the champion on an episode of Friday Night Smackdown. However, shortly before the pay-per-view, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton were added to the PPV match as well, turning it from a one-on-one contest into a fatal 4-way. Although the match was entertaining, it was unnecessary, as both Jericho and Orton were simply added to the match because they had nothing else going on for the pay-per-view, and WWE felt the need to throw them on the show as well.

Now, Del Rio will get his one-on-one match with Sheamus on June 16th from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Although it hasn’t been announced yet, expect a cage match stipulation to be added to this match. Although No Way Out was originally a standard PPV like Over the Limit or Capitol Punishment, since being re-added to the PPV calendar this year, it is expected to feature stipulation matches for the main events, similar to the Elimination Chamber and TLC PPV’s, with the stipulation likely to be cage matches.

Speaking of cage matches, it was announced on tonight’s episode of RAW that the John Cena/Big Show grudge match set for No Way Out will now take place in a cage. Cena was unable to address the added stipulation tonight due to not being in the building, but expect a reaction from him next Monday night.

Finally, based on what happened on RAW tonight, expect a Daniel Bryan/CM Punk match for the WWE Championship to be added to No Way Out, possibly in a cage. For those that didn’t watch, Bryan defeated Punk earlier tonight by pinfall in a non-title match, giving him a legitimate claim as the #1 contender for the championship. Although this hasn’t been confirmed, it’s a match highly likely to happen. Considering both of these men are feuding with each other while also getting involved in a mini-feud with Kane at the moment, there is a good possibility that Kane will be added to the match as well. If this does happen, I personally hope they keep it out of the cage, as we already had a 3-way cage match this year at the Royal Rumble.
