India defeated Great Britain, 3-1 to secure the bronze medal at the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament.
It was Great Britain who took the lead in the 35th minute through a penalty corner which was converted by Ashley Jackson. The scoreline remained the same in the half time. India equalized in the 42nd minute through a brilliant field goal scored by Shivendra Singh.
Sandeep Singh converted a penalty corner in the 52nd minute to give India the lead. Great Britain tried to attack to get the equalizer, but it was India again to score through Khandekar to make it 3-1.
This podium finish has definitely raised India’s hopes for the Olympics as Great Britain is higher ranked team.
