Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship Set for No Way Out

Last week, it was announced that Daniel Bryan would be receiving his rematch from Over the Limit against WWE Champion CM Punk, and that the rematch would take place at the upcoming No Way Out pay-per-view. The match was made after Bryan recently pinned Punk in a non-title one-on-one match on Monday Night RAW. However, a new twist has been added to the match.

Although Bryan is still getting his rematch, he will have to contend with both CM Punk and “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” Kane.

This past Friday night on Smackdown!, Punk defended his championship against Kane in a rare title defense on free TV. The match was very competitive, and near the end, it appeared as if Kane was going to become a 2-time WWE Champion following a chokeslam. However, before he could land the move, Daniel Bryan appeared out of nowhere and leveled both competitors with a double dropkick from the top rope, resulting in the match being determined a “no contest”. As the three men continued to brawl after the match was over, WWE General Manager John Laurinaitis and his Executive Administrator Eve Torres appeared on the stage, and Laurinaitis announced that the No Way Out match would be made into a triple threat, throwing Kane into the mix.

It is unknown if the cage stipulation will be added to this match, but that is a strong possibility. Either way, expect Punk to retain here and move onto another one-on-one match with Bryan, likely a submission match, with Kane being phased out back into the mid-card.

Personally, I don’t understand the inclusion of Kane in this feud in the first place. Since returning to WWE with his mask last December, Kane has done absolutely nothing of note. His feud with John Cena was a colossal failure, and his feud with Randy Orton wasn’t much better. In fact, I can only recall Kane winning 2 matches since his return-one against Orton at Wrestlemania 28, and a Monday Night RAW match against The Big Show. I don’t understand exactly how that qualifies him for all of shots at title matches he’s been receiving lately. Kane is past his prime, and at 45 years old, it’s time for him to move out of the main event and begin putting over younger stars. There’s really no room for him or his character on the roster anymore, and I hope that I am right in my prediction that he will be phased out from this title feud after the PPV. Considering Punk is expected to feud with the Big Show later this year, that’s a likely scenario.
