After Bayer Leverkeusen rebuffed Chelsea‘s initial bid of 17 million pounds for Germany international Schurrle, the Blues intend to lodge a second bid of 20 million Euros in an attempt to bring the versatile attacker to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are in need of reinforcements in the final third since the departures of Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou, while Daniel Sturridge could also be on his way out.
Romelu Lukaku will need some more time to develop, and under these circumstances, Chelsea believe Andre Schurrle could be the right person to bring to the Club. Schurrle, who shone for Germany at the recently concluded European Championships, can play on the wings and up front.
Reports suggest that Brendan Rodgers is planning to persuade his former Club Swansea to sell him Joe Allen for the sake of their financial future. Although there is an agreement that Rodgers will not go back to Swansea to purchase players from there, Swansea could do with the money, having already brought in Spanish defender Jose Flores and Dutch-Canadian Jonathan de Guzman from Villarreal.
Rodgers was rumoured to have made moves for Ashley Williams, Danny Graham and Scott Sinclair, but the agreement in place would prevent him from bringing the aforementioned players to Anfield.
New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has stated that his Club will respect the decisions of Modric as a host of Clubs, including Spanish side Real Madrid pursue his signature. The Croatia midfielder had expressed his desire to leave White Hart Lane last season, but stayed on the insistence of Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy.
Villas-Boas told BBC Sport:
“The interest that we have from various different clubs shows the importance of the player and what he’s done for Tottenham. It’s fair to say that the club respects Luka’s ambitions and his willingness to move on and he respects the fact that he’s an important player for the club and can help us move forward.
“Ongoing discussions will continue with these clubs until we reach an agreement which is acceptable for each party.”
Spurs have already signed Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim.
Although nothing coming out of Ashburton Grove is ever definite given the secrecy of the Club when it comes to transfer dealings, very reputable sources have it that Yann M’Vila is still a target for the Gunners. Talks between Rennes and Arsenal are still ongoing, and since no other Club are interested in the holding midfielder, Arsenal are looking for Rennes to lower the price for the France international.
The Gunners are also rumoured to be chasing United States attacker Clint Dempsey and Montenegro striker Stevan Jovetic, while (largely untrue) rumours say Ganso will be moving to the Emirates.
The 16-year-old scored 13 goals for the Exeter U-16 side, earning him a trial with United. He will join United’s Academy setup, having featured for Exeter in a youth tournament in the Netherlands.
Goss joins United for an inital fee of 100,000 Pounds. The Red Devils are also rumoured to be chasing Portugal midfielder Joao Moutinho, and are in contract talks with Daniel Welbeck and Luis Nani.
