Rio de Janeiro, July 13 (IANS) The Brazilian men’s basketball team won the Super Four Olympic warm-up tournament with a 91-75 margin over Argentina in the final.
San Antonio Spurs centre Thiago Splitter was named MVP for Brazil with 19 points and eight rebounds at the Costa Cavalcanti Stadium in Foz do Iguacu Thursday, reports Xinhua.
Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Anderson Varejao scored 17 points for the home side while Larry Taylor added 16. Luis Scola was Argentina’s top-scorer with 19 points.
The match was Brazil’s last on home soil before the London Games. The team will travel to Washington for a match against the United States Monday before a friendly tournament against France and Australia in Strasbourg.
Brazil will play its first match of the London Games against Australia July 29.
