Yesterday morning, at the Silverstone Circuit, the 24-year-old Ma Qing Hua became the first Chinese-born driver to test a Formula One car ever. The Chinese driver participated in the Young Driver Test for HRT on Tuesday.
Ma Qing Hua joined HRT’s driver development programme in April after he completed simulator work, tests in GP2 and World Series cars. He also completed several other series including Formula Renault, Formula Three, Superleague and A1 Grand Prix.
Besides HRT, also Marussia and Williams are having two test days at the Silverstone Circuit. They are running Valtteri Bottas, Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto. Qing Hua will continue to test for HRT on Friday.
