Wenger: We want £30m for Van Persie
Manchester United’s move to sign Robin van Persie is hanging in the balance because Arsenal are refusing to budge on their £30 million valuation of the Dutch striker.
United had been confident they would eventually sign the striker, who they believe is keen on a move to Old Trafford, with a compromise deal of £20m likely. But Arsenal’s stance has stalled negotiations, leaving City the most likely destination, with Juventus also put off by the London club’s demands.
Everton close to signing Pienaar back from Tottenham
David Moyes has revealed he is 'much closer' to bringing Steven Pienaar back to Everton on a permanent basis. Everton will be dishing out £5m for the south African attacker who was one of the stars to come out David Moyes' ranks at Everton.
Brazil midfielder Oscar has confirmed he has had a medical with Chelsea, but will delay his decision on whether or not to sign for the Champions League winners until after the Olympics.
Charlie Adam could be used in the deal to take Clint Dempsey from Fulham to Liverpool.
The Scottish midfielder, who joined the Anfield club from Blackpool last summer failed to make an instant impression.
This offer is touted to help Liverpool, who are leading the race for Clint Dempsey as well as a £15million move for Swansea's Joe Allen. The arrival of those two players could mean Adam would be sidelined anyway and that might tempt Brendan Rodgers to let go of the midfield.
