London, July 27- A Turkish boxing referee has been found dead in his London hotel room before the Olympic Games officially kick off Friday.

Bayram Altug, the head of the Turkish Boxing Federation, said a colleague found the 73-year-old Garip Erkuyumcu dead in his bed Thursday. A heart attack is the suspected cause, reports Xinhua.

Altug said Erkuyumcu was a member of the International Boxing Association’s refereeing and judging commission and would have been assisting referees during the Games.

Erkuyumcu’s body will be flown back to Turkey next week.
