Tarundeep Rai, cousin of famous ex-footballer Baichung Bhutia, came back famously into the match despite trailing 5-1 after three sets against Cuban archer, Juan Carlos Stevens.
He shot three successive 10s to draw the score 5-5 by winning the next two sets.
In the shoot-off, Rai shot a nine and Carlos could only manage an eight.
Rai moves into the round of 32 and will face either Elder Robert or Kim Bubmin.
