Daniele De Rossi is set to be the latest to join the unusually long list of players City have failed to sign this summer.

Man City fail in De Rossi pursuit

Manchester City have failed in their pursuit of Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, with both club and player rejecting City’s offer out of hand.

City, according to Goal.com, made a 31 million pound bid for the player, with the Italian international offered a massive 7 million pounds in wages per season.

Rossi has been with Roma his entire career and that association looks to continue, with the player even planning a press conference later today to clear the speculation and declare his intention to stay at the Italian club.

Barcelona complete Song signing

Barcelona have completed the signing of Alex Song from Arsenal for a transfer fee of 15 million pounds.

Song has signed a 5 year deal with the Catalan giants, with a release clause set at a massive 80 million euros. Song is the second Arsenal player to leave Arsenal in less than a week, after Robin Van Persie moved to Manchester United.

Llorente ready to see out Athletico contract

Athletico Bilbao forward Fernando has claimed that he could see out the last year of his contract with Bilbao and will not try to push for a transfer this summer.

Llorente told an Italian website that he was happy to stay at Bilbao for the coming season, despite having refused to sign an extension with the club.

Juventus have been linked with the Spaniard, who they turned to, after deeming Arsenal’s van Persie as too expensive.

Bilbao are holding out for the full release clause fee of 36 million euros, but Juventus have been negotiating to bring down the price for the player who has entered the final year of his contract.
