Reportedly, Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson has not been pleased with Wayne Rooney´s commitment in recent weeks. And as a direct result, the England international was left on the substitutes´ bench for the home tie against Fulham last Saturday with the Manchester United coach opting for summer signing Shinji Kagawa instead.
Wayne Rooney was a notable omission from the starting lineup against The Cottagers at Old Trafford. And when the centre forward came on in the second half, he eventually left the field on a stretcher with a gash to the leg. The Manchester United icon could now be sidelined for up to eight weeks from the injury he suffered in the closing minutes of the 3–2 victory over Martin Jol´s men.
Sir Alex Ferguson: “I really respect players who clearly want to play for us and it has always influenced me when it comes to deciding who we should go for. The reverse is equally true for me because if I hear that a player has fallen out of love with us and is looking elsewhere I invariably help them on their way out.”
