United will face Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the Capital One Cup. Since winning it in 2009 and 2010, United haven’t been too successful in the competition, having chosen to use the competitionas a chance of giving some younger players some First Team action. Last year, a young United side got beaten by Crystal Palace and the year before that a West Ham side beat a weakened United team quite comfortably.
It’s obviously nice to win any competition you can but, with the Premier League and Champions League both as competitive as ever I think it’s important that they’re our main focus. A run in the League Cup would be nice, but in no way is it vital and, even if we were beaten by Newcastle, I wouldn’t mind too much. The date and kick-off time for the match is yet to be decided but, as usual with League Cup ties, it’ll be a midweek affair.
