Vishesh Bhriguvanshi led the way with 20 points and 12 assists, first double double of this kind in this tournament for any player

India have lost their third straight preliminary match at the FIBA Asia Cup 2012, today we lost to Chinese Taipei in spite of four of our players scoring over 18 points. Narendra Grewal, Amritpal Singh, and Rikin Pethani had 18 a piece and Vishesh Bhriguvanshi led the way with a amazing stat line of 20 points and 12 assists. Rikin had a double double by adding 10 boards to his 18 points. This time we actually dominated the points off turnovers and second chance points, 25 a piece in both categories. And we had 40 inside points to their 38. But Chinese Taipei shot 16 of 29 from three point range.

“Well. We are playing our hearts out and working hard. Somewhere down the line, we are lacking the game-experience to convert the energy into victory,” Vishesh said.

“I think we have done exceedingly well against all expectations. We are taking a lot of positives back although the results might show otherwise,” Coach JP Singh added.

We play Japan at 1pm tomorrow. They are ranked 35 to our 58 in FIBA rankings but they are a very tough opponent to get the best of. We need to defeat them to advance to the quarterfinals.
