Rest of India trounced a hapless Rajasthan by an innings and 79 runs. Harmeet Singh starred with the ball, picking 4 wickets in the second innings. Rajasthan lost three wickets in the form of run-outs and never looked like saving the match.
Umesh Yadav picked up five wickets in the first innings. Murali Vijay made a strong statement, scoring a monumental 266. Ajinkya Rahane (81), Cheteshwar Pujara (78), Subramaniam Badrinath (55) and Dinesh Karthik (56) scored half centuries for Rest of India.
For Rajasthan, Robin Bist, who represented India A this season, scored an unbeaten 117 in the first innings.
Rajasthan lost their second consecutive Irani Trophy final, and would expect much better results in this year’s competitions without their star opener Aakash Chopra.
