A bit late on this but will get straight to the point, this past weekend saw some great goals by players from all across. Here are a few that are worth mentioning:
Kennedy Bakircioglu (Hammarby – Sweden)
This 31-yr-old Swedish midfielder of Turkish roots scored a hell of a goal from a corner-kick in a 3-1 victory against Brage in the Sweden’s second division – the Superettan.
Alvaro Recoba (Nacional – Uruguay)
Similarly miles away, in Uruguay, an all-time great with the sweetest left foot one could ask for scored in a similar fashion. From a corner-kick. In fact, the 36-year-old Alvaro Recoba managed to score both the goals in a 2 – 1 victory over Fenix.
Both showed the characteristics of his left foot that he has mesmerized us time and time again.
Romain Alessandrini (Rennes – France)
Alessandrini scored a difficult back-heel in Rennes 3 – 2 victory over Nancy in the French League Cup that took place a few days ago. Pure technique and a pleasure to watch this repeatedly.
Vagner Love (Flamengo – Brazil)
Lastly, to a guy who scored 79 goals in 158 games for CSKA Moscow, a player who is of a caliber who can score at will. A player who can do this
But ended up missing a sitter on the weekend against Atletico. but to his credit, he provided both the assists for the two goals scored. So you have redeemed yourself Vagner Love.
