CM Punk has courted controversy with the fans yet again. Following a verbal altercation with Australian fans during a tour last year, CM Punk has landed in trouble for attacking a fan during this week’s Raw at Sacramento, California.
CM Punk ran into the crowds to escape from Ryback and was standing among a group of fans who were pushing and nudging him all the while. While Vince was talking during the final moments of the show, CM Punk was seen attacking a fan – smacking him in the face. This video gives us a clear picture of what exactly happened:
The fans got restless and were shoving Punk till the point that he got annoyed with it and smacked a guy. Apparently, CM Punk has courted controversy yet again. However, WWE has issued a statement, explaining the reasons behind this mishap. It says that the security measures were inappropriate in the arena at that point of time and CM Punk reacted in the heat of the moment:
During last night’s Raw televised event, WWE Superstar CM Punk exited the ring into the stands as part of the show. WWE security was unfortunately not in the appropriate place at the time. Given CM Punk’s persona as a ‘bad guy,’ fans were naturally heckling him, but unfortunately a few fans began shoving him and one struck in him in the kidney and on the back. WWE regrets that proper security measures were not in place, and CM Punk apologizes for reacting in the heat of the moment. Other than this isolated incident, WWE always provides proper security to ensure the safety of our fans and our performers.
Although CM Punk has apologized, he might have to face legal charges if the attacked fan files a complaint against Punk’s actions. In all likelihood, CM Punk has gotten himself into a mess which may not clear anytime soon.
