Teenager Brandon Fernandes is heading to a Premier League club for two weeks and that club is none other than Reading FC. The player’s management company, Kemp Thornton, were initially reluctant to reveal the name of the club.
Reading have had a disastrous season so far as they haven’t won any of their 6 Premier League matches this season and are in the relegation zone.
The buzz surrounding Fernandes’ trial has been unprecedented with people all over wishing him luck and hoping he paves the way for more Indian players in Europe.
“Its fantastic and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings,” a Kemp Thornton spokesman said.
Brandon’s father Jaju Fernandes, was buzzing with nervous excitement.
When asked about his son being on the brink of a dream move, the former executive committee member of the Goa Football Association (GFA) said “We have always dreamed of seeing our son play football at the highest level.
“European football is glamourous but we are under no illusions that it will be a smooth ride. Whatever happens at the trials, we are sure that Brandon is meant for bigger things in life.”
Reading won back promotion to the top flight after winning the Football Championship, England‘s second tier of football last season. They are currently eighteenth in the Barclays Premier League table and are yet to register a win this season.
We at Sportskeeda wish Brandon Fernandes all the best.
