Maria Sharapova named as one of the ambassadors for Sochi winter Olympics 2014

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its brand ambassadors for Sochi winter Olympics 2014 to be held in Russia and tennis star Maria Sharapova is one among them.

Besides promoting the brand, they will also help in bringing together the Olympians and their fans.

Russian ice hockey star Evgeni Malkin was named as the head of Samsung Galaxy team. Other ambassadors include skier Nikita Kryukov, biathlete Evgeny Ustyugov, figure skaters Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Tatyana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov along with Russian paralympians Sergey Shilov and Serafim Pikalov.

Accoring to Sportspromedia, Sung-ho Jun, president of Samsung Electronics’ CIS headquarters, said: “Our goal is to leverage our advanced wireless technologies to expand the Olympic Games experience to as many people as possible, and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the competitions and enter into the spirit of the Olympic Games.

“The respected athletes involved in the Samsung Galaxy team project will help us bring people closer to the Olympic Games than ever before.”

Dmitry Chernyshenko, the president of the Sochi 2014 organising committee, added: “We are delighted to be working with Samsung on the preparations for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Samsung is not only helping to make the Games the most digital and technologically advanced in history, but is also giving millions of people around the world a unique opportunity to connect with today’s top athletes.”
