Odisha to host 64th National Basketball Championship for Junior Men and Women

New Delhi - The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) is proud to announce the 64th National Basketball Championship for Junior Men & Women to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack (Odisha) from 1st to 8th September 2013.

The Junior Men & Women National Basketball Championship is being organized by Basketball Federation of India (BFI) in association with Odisha Basketball Association.

Last year’s championship was held in Puducherry, where both Chhattisgarh Men & Women had won the championship and will be looking to defend their titles this year in Cuttack.

A total of 46 teams – 23 boys & 23 girls teams – from different states of India will be participating in this week-long event to be named the National Championship. Matches will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium basketball court. The format of the Championship will be league cum knockout of Level 1 and 2.

At the onset, Roopam Sharma, CEO of BFI, said, “Basketball Federation of India is delighted to host the 64th Junior National Basketball Championship for Boys and Girls in Cuttack.

“The BFI is thankful to the Odisha Basketball Association for rendering their support in organizing and hosting the event. Young and dynamic players will be the path of success for basketball in the country.

“This event will showcase competitive games and a pool of talented players, who will comprise the next set of senior level players.”
