Rumour: Neymar cost €38m more than reported, Barca might face punishment

Barcelona paid €95 million for the services of Neymar, which is €38m more than the €57m officially reported.

The Brazilian arrived at Camp Nou from Santos Last summer. €95m is the fee that figures in the contracts signed the copies of which lie with Spanish high courts.

According to the newspaper ‘El Mundo’, there have been previously undisclosed agreements that have seen Neymar’s family pocket millions of euros in commission. €2m was paid to the player’s father to scout new prospects at Santos, €4m relates to an undertaking to secure advertising contracts with Brazilian companies.

In addition, €2.5m was given to the Neymar family towards social causes, specifically aiding “children in the São Paulo favelas”. It is being speculated now that Barcelona might face severe punishment if the accusations are proven right.

Barcelona could be banned from the UEFA Champions League for two seasons and even get a 22 points-deduction in the domestic league.

The 21-year-old has had an excellent start to his career in Spain having scored 11 goals in all competitions.
