Report: 7th National Wheelchair Fencing Championship, 2014

Maharashtra Wheelchair Fencing Team

The 7th National Wheelchair Fencing Championship, 2014 - was held in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh from 7th to 9th December, 2014 under the auspices of Paralympic Committee of India.

More than 140 fencers from 12 states represented there best fencers in both senior men’s and women’s category in 18 events spread over 3 days.

Maharashtra represented a strong team of 18 men & 6 women. Vibhas Sen was the only player to win Individual Gold in Sabre & Silver in Epee in Category B and bronze in Sabre Team Event.

Chhattisgarh received the maximum medals and was crowned the State Champions & Manipur was the runner-up.

The Indian Team consisting of Irshad Makakmayum of Karnataka & Vibhas Sen of Maharashtra will also be representing the country in the upcoming IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Grand Prix 2014 in Hongkong from 17th to 21st December, 2014.
