Upcoming European Archery Championships in 2014

There was no dearth of fun, excitement and twists for the archery fans throughout the year. Earlier the four preliminary rounds were held at different times between April and August. The final matches of 2014 Annual Archery World Cup were held in the beginning of this month. Below are a few more archery tournaments that are scheduled to be held in September and December.

European 3D Championship

A great week for the European archers. The prestigious European 3D Championship was held in Tallinn from 15th to 20th September. Beautiful ambience and excitement of audience increased the thrill of the participants of the European countries.

Anxious to know the results? Amongst the countries who participated, Italy topped the list of finalists with four gold medals, one silver as well as five bronze metals. The second and third position are occupied by Hungary as well as Sweden. Hungary won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Sweden grabbed 2 gold medals.

European 3D Championship Winners:

In the Compound Archery Men series, Tursic Slavko of San Luis Obispo (California), won the gold medal. Gondan Gyorgy of Hungary earned the second position by winning the silver medal. In the women’s compound archery category, Bianchi Sonia, a talented archer from Italy, was the winner. LINDROTH Mikael and BJORKLUND Lina, both from Sweden, were the winners of Barebow championships at male and female categories respectively. In Longbow competition for male archers, Molnar Jozsef grabbed the gold medal and in Longbow female archery series, Garrido Lazaro Encarna won the competition. Italy’s PITTALUGA Fabio and GYORGYNE KERESZT Piroska were the gold medal winners of the Instinctive Archery Competition in the male and female categories respectively.

2014 European Club Team Cup

Another important archery tournament is just around the corner. 2014 European Club Team Cup will be held on 3rd, 4th and 5th October. The venue is Rovereto, Italy. Known for City of Peace, it hosts archery tournament and wide ranging sports or cultural events every year. Besides cut throat competition, the forthcoming archery championship will offer a scope to establish liaison between archers, friends, coaches and officials from different European countries and contribute to the advancement of the archery game.

Participating Club Teams:

Top class European archery club teams are expected to participate in the tournament. Nearly twenty club teams for women archers from European countries will take part in the competition. Participating countries include France, Italy, Russia, Ireland, Turkey, Germany, Great Britain, Poland and Spain. 2013’s winner, Club Es Cubels and other archery club teams from Spain such as Arqueros de Pozuelo, Nenitas Montjuic will participate. Besides Spain, other popular archery club teams include FSG Tacherting, Blankenfelder Bogenschuetzen 08 (Germany), Okcular Vakfi Sportsclub (Turkey) and so on. Guepard CSSC is a popular Russian archery club team and is one of the participants of 2014 European Club Team Cup for the female archers.

Nearly thirty three male archery club teams are scheduled to participate in the forthcoming European Club Team Cup. Last year’s champion namely K.S Stella Kielce from Poland is one of the top contenders of European Club Team Championship title. Starting from France, Great Britain to Russia, club teams from 13 different countries will participate in the competition.

Indoor Para Archery World Cup 2014

The para-archers have more reasons to become happy. The first Indoor Para-Archery championship will be occurred in Bangkok in the beginning of this December. The dates are 8th and 9th December 2014. The Indoor Archery World 2014-15, Stage 1 and 2, are also in the pipeline. It will be held on 6th and 7th December in Bangkok. A detailed indoor world cup match schedule is declared to highlight the time and venue of different stages of the indoor archery world cup.

In Europe, important tournaments and matches were already held and some championships are in the pipeline. Recently, the World Archery Europe, formerly known as European and Mediterranean Archery Union, confirmed that Archery Qualification System for European Games that will be held in June 2015 at Baku, was already approved by European Olympic Committees. It is inevitable that the popularity of European archery will increase in the coming years.
