The Indian women's trio of Trisha Deb, Purvasha Sudhir Shende and Surekha Jyothi gave India their first medal from the archery field on Saturday as they prevailed over Iran in the bronze medal match of the compound event of the 17th Asian Games.

The Indian team, which lost to Chinese Taipei in the semi-final Thursday, shot 224 while the Iran's team of Sakineh Ghasempour, Maryan Ranjbarsari and Shabnam Sarlak scored 217.

Both the teams fired 13 10's. But the Iranians' chances were dented as they scored only nine 9's to India's 14.

The Indian team took the early lead of three points in the first end which swelled as the Iranians continued to trail India in the next rounds.

Trisha Deb will also compete in the individual semi-final later in the day.

The gold went to South Korean team of Bomin Choi, Yunhee Kim and Jihyun Seok, who won 229-226 against Chinese Taipei's trio of Meng Ning Wen, Ju Li Chen and Jou Huang.
