Have you heard of running 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days? These events are welcome for runners who want to have that extra adrenaline rush.

The World Marathon Challenge gives high stamina, super fit, marathon runners a unique opportunity to meet this demanding challenge! Participants to this event run 295 km (183 miles) over the seven-day period, spend 59 hours in the air and fly approximately 38,000 km.

The marathons take place at the Union Glacier in Antarctica, Punta Arenas in Chile,South America, Miami in the USA, Madrid, Marrakech (Morocco), Dubai and Sydney.

David Gething, an amateur marathoner and Hong Kong resident, won the men's title in the 2015 World Marathon Challenge with a total time of 25:36:03, while Marianna Zaikova from Finland with a total time of 40:22:45 became the first woman to achieve the feat. All competitors succeeded in completing the challenge within 7 days, or 168 hours.

The event has a half-marathon category too. Indians Krishna & Uma Chigurupati completed this category with a total time of 20:59:38 and 21:36:43 respectively.

The 2016 edition of this event will be held in the month of January. With the kind of popularity that World Marathon Challenge has gained, the next edition looks as though it will be a resounding success.
