There is little doubt that Inderjeet Singh has been India’s best athlete in the year 2015 so far. The 27-year-old has won a staggering 8 gold medals and has already qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

However, on one front when he has creating ripples on the field, he has been facing equally demanding circumstances off the field with monetary issues hampering his preparations severely.

On Tuesday, though, the shot-putter found help coming his way from one of the giants in the cooperate sector- Anand Mahindra, who contributed an amount of Rs 5 lakhs towards helping him get the best preparation for the Games and in addition, will seek more people to join him(crowd-funding) in helping Inderjeet meet his training expenses.

Reacting to this, Inderjeet expressed happiness and hoped for more people to come out and support him in a similar manner.

“I'm touched by the gesture. Hopefully, it will mobilize greater support in the coming weeks and bolster my preparations for Olympics," he said.

"Inderjeet is a great talent and one of the best prospects India currently has for that elusive Olympic track and field medal. His monthly expenses for training and dietary requirements is close to Rs. 1.5 lakhs and we are very happy that Mr. Anand Mahindra has stepped forward to support his cause.

We have also started a parallel crowdfunding campaign for Inderjeet in collaboration with Sportskeeda, Nurturing Excellence in Sports Trust and Bitiving, and would be great if more corporate heads and entities associate themselves with Olympians,” said Maneesh Bahuguna the CEO of the Anglian Medal Hunt Company.
Talking about his contribution, Mr. Mahindra said that supporting athletes who were finding it difficult to accumulate funds was an excellent way to increase collective crowd-funding and praised Inderjeet fo his fantastic showing in 2015.

“Supporting promising athletes who are not getting the appropriate level of funding from the state is an ideal cause around which to catalyse collective fundraising. That is my motivation to make an initial contribution to Inderjeet Singh, who is an outstanding and committed athlete. My hope is that this will just be the first drop in a bucket that will rapidly be filled with other contributions,” he said.

Sportskeeda has also been trying to do their bit to help the athlete in getting the best preparation possible for the Summer Games and you can contribute for his cause by going to the below link:
