Landmark Groups announces 6th edition of ‘Beat Diabetes’ campaign

Urging Indians to join the fight against diabetes and spread awareness about the life-threatening condition, Dubai based retail and hospitality conglomerate, Landmark Group announced the sixth edition of ‘Beat Diabetes’ campaign. World renowned athlete Anju Bobby George and Sandalwood stars Amulya and Samyukta Hornad along with Mr. Kabir Lumba - Managing Director, Lifestyle International Pvt. Ltd. took the glucose screening tests and encouraged people to follow suit to help create awareness about diabetes.

As part of Beat Diabetes initiative, free glucose screening tests are being conducted between November 20 and 29, 2015 in 50 stores of Lifestyle and Max across 8 cities including Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Calicut. In Bangalore, the Free Blood Glucose Screening will be conducted at select Lifestyle and Max stores.

In the recent years, there has been an increase in the population of young adults who are affected by diabetes. Emphasizing the importance of recognizing the symptoms of this condition early by educating the youth, this year Beat Diabetes has a renewed focus on young adults in the age group of 18-30 years. Other than testing, through its Get Active component, the Beat Diabetes Campaign encourages the community to live a healthy lifestyle and educates them on how to prevent and deal with diabetes through proper lifestyle management.

As a part of the campaign, free blood glucose screening test camps have also been, held in 13 colleges so far where tests have been administered to over 10,000 students and staff members. Those diagnosed with diabetic conditions are being supported with a comprehensive treatment plan. The program aims to reach out to 40,000 young adults by March 2016.The Beat Diabetes campaign is supported by leading companies in the healthcare field including Diabetacare and Apollo Tele Health Services, along with Landmark Group companies Lifestyle, Home Centre, Max, Easybuy and Splash.
