Commonweath Games at Glasgow,Scotland 2014

According to reports, Sachin Choudhary, India’s para power lifter, has been caught for a doping offence and will take no part in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Sachin tested positive for a banned substance in a test conducted by NADA (National Anti-Doping Agency) last month.

The para-power lifter had already gone back to India due to the deterioting condition of his ailing father, but now the reports suggest that he was also caught for doping in a test conducted by NADA much before leaving for Scotland.

"It is true that Sachin tested positive for a banned substance. The test was conducted by the NADA around a month back. It is an unfortunate incident,” a member of the para-sports contingent told PTI.

The doping case comes as a big blow to India’s prospects, as Sachin is an experienced power lifter and was expected to contend for a medal.

“He will not return to Glasgow and his name will be removed from the starting list in the team managers' meeting," the para-sports member added. "Sachin is an experienced para-athlete and medal prospect. He took part in 2012 London Paralympics and also World Championships."
