Poovamma and Arokia clinch silver; 4x100m team win bronze as India end with 7 medals

MR Poovamma continued her consistent run

Apart from winning 3 gold medals, India also won 3 silver medals and a bronze medal in the third leg of the Asian Grand Prix Games, that were held in Chanthaburi, Thailand on Monday.

Rajiv Arokia, who had won gold in the second leg at Pathum Thani, won silver this time around in the third and final leg in the Men’s 400m with a timing of 46.07 seconds.Quach Cong Lich of Vietnam won gold with a timing of 45.99 seconds.

MR Poovamma continued her consistent run this month, by winning the silver in the Women’s 400m category with a timing of 52.60 seconds.. She had earlier won 2 bronze medals in the first 2 legs of the competition and also clinched a silver in the Asian Athletics Championships, earlier in the month.

Gayathri Govindharaj clinched the silver medal in the 100m Hurdles with an effort of 13.763 seconds, falling .213 seconds behind Kazakhstan’s Pilipenko Anastasiya, who completed the race in 13.55 seconds.

India did well in the team events as well, with the Women’s 4x100m relay team winning the bronze with a timing of 46.06 seconds.
