Two year ban for Jamaican discus thrower Allison Randall

Kingston (Jamaica), April 9 (IANS/CMC) Jamaican discus thrower Allison Randall has been suspended for two years by the Jamaica Anti Doping Commission (JADCO) and will not be eligible to compete until June 2015.

Randall’s suspension is calculated from the time she returned positive for a banned diuretic at the National Trials in June 2013. The 25-year-old, who holds the Jamaican discus record at 61.21 metres, is one of eight Jamaicans who tested positive last year.

She was suspended along with Olympic 100m silver medallist Sherone Simpson, who was slapped with an 18-month ban. They will both miss the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in July.

Former men’s 100m world record holder Asafa Powell was one of three other Jamaican athletes to fail tests last June when he tested positive for the same stimulant as Simpson. Powell will learn his fate Thursday.
