2015 Vietnam Open: Day 3 Round up

RMV Gurusaidutt bowed out

India had a disappointing Day 3 at the 2015 Vietnam Open after almost all the Men’s and Women’s Singles contenders bowed out of the competition on Thursday. In the Men’s Singles Shreyansh Jaiswal proved to be the only India to move into the third round of the tournament after defeating World No.58 Mohammad Abdul Arif Latif 21-16 19-21 21-15. He will take on Sammer Verma who defeated the impressive Indonesian Christie Jonatan 16-21 21-19 22-20.

Apart from the above two results, there was dejection for India as one of the big hopefuls, Ajay Jayaram crashed out losing to Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 21-15 13-21 21-18. RMV Gurusaidutt and Sai Praneeth bowed out of the competition, losing to Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo and Muhammad Bali Panghithu of Indonesia 21-16 15-21 21-15 and 21-19 19-21 21-16 respectively.

For a change, India found some good news in the Doubles as Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar progressed through to the next round as did the mixed doubles pair of Aparna Bala and Arun Vishnu. The other Men’s Doubles pairing of Alwin Francis and Arun Vishnu, however, crashed out.

The Women’s Doubles pair of Aparna Balan and Prajakta Sawant also bowed out of the competition as did Saili Rane in the women’s singles category.
