Indian badminton sensation Saina Nehwal turns 24 today. By virtue of her dedication and hard work, her name has become synonymous with stupendous achievements. She has ensured that Indian women shuttlers are now known worldwide.

In her short but sparkling career, Saina has achieved many landmarks. After winning many titles, she stands at World Number 8 today. She won the gold in the New Delhi Commonwealth games in the year 2010, and she also won a bronze in the Asian championships. She won the Syed Modi GP earlier this year.

Saina is the first Indian woman sportsperson to have grabbed millions of dollars worth of endorsements. Indian coach Pullella Gopichand always trusts Saina Nehwal, owing to her tremendous fighting spirit and quick reflexes on the court. - Saina was born on 17 March 1990 to Harvir Singh and Usha Nehwal in Dhindar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

- She attained a career best ranking of No. 2 in December 2010.

- She happens to be the first Indian woman to win a medal in badminton at the London Olympics on 4 August 2012.

- She is also the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament, which she achieved by clinching the Indonesia Open on 21 June 2009, and the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships.

- Saina is supported by the Olympic Gold Quest.

- She plays for Hyderabad Hotshots in Indian Badminton League. The team, under the dynamic leadership of Saina, became the champion of the first Indian Badminton league in the year 2013.
