Third seed H. S. Prannoy of India bowed out of $120,000 Macau Open Badminton being played at the Macau Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Hong Kong. Prannoy was defeated by Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong 16-21, 21-16, 12-21 in 60 minutes. Prannoy started on a good note and had an upper hand initially. But down 7-11 Vincent produced some good shots to take six straight points to Prannoy’s amazement. Prannoy fought hard and replied with an equally strong six-point streak. Fight ensued and down 13-14 Vincent produced another brilliant run to stun Prannoy. The Indian tried to make a comeback, but it was too late. Vincent ran away 21-16.

Prannoy didn’t allow Vincent much movement on the court in the second game. Vincent tried to attack, but Prannoy played smart, and started to build some momentum. At the break, he led 11-7. He kept up the pressure and earned six game points, but Vincent could only save one. The game ended 21-16 in Prannoy’s favor.

In the decider, Vincent played much better and started dominating Prannoy from the first point. At break he led 11-3 and Prannoy seemed to look out of ideas. Back from the break, he recovered and reduced the gap to 11-12 and then 13-12. But that’s all he could manage. As Vincent made Prannoy look completely clueless, he took the remaining eight points to win the match in a ruthless fashion.
