Indian ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap out for 2 months with calf injury

World No. 8 Parupalli Kashyap who retired from the French Open in the second round, posted on his Facebook page that he suffered a torn calf muscle during his second round match against Rajiv Ouseph. The injury is said to keep him out of action for over two months.

Kashyap who won the Commonwealth Gold last year in Beijing has had a dismal 2015 season during which crashed out of the Japan open in the second round as well. The only silver lining in Kashyap woeful year was the India Open Grand Prix Gold that he secured defeating fellow Indian Kidambi Srikanth earlier this year.

Kashyap also had a poor run of form at the World Championships which took place in Indonesia earlier this year, losing to his long time rival Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam, 21-17, 13-21, 18-21.

The 29-year-old posted this status on his Facebook page:

Kashyap lost the opening game 21-11 but came back strong in the second to take it 13-21, but retired when the score was at 2-4 in the third game at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.
