World No. 11 and top-seeded P.V. Sindhu sealed her semifinal berth as she thrashed World No. 28 and 5th seeded Hong Kong shuttler Tsz Ka Chan 21-17. 21-12 in the quarterfinals of the Kumpoo Macau Open Grand Prix Gold 2013.

Sindhu, who is the only remaining Indian shuttler in the tournament, defeated her opponent in a match which lasted for just 29 minutes. The Indian has never lost to Chan. She had defeated the world No. 28 at the Tata Open in 2011 and in the Asia Championships earlier this year.

The 18-year-old Indian shuttler started the match with a bang as she took a strong four-point lead in the initial part of the first game. Trailing by 10-14 at one stage, Tsz Ka Chan made a good comeback as she won 5 consecutive points to make the score 15-14.

Tsz further increased her lead to two points but the 2013 World Championships bronze medallist Indian shuttler was in no mood to throw away the game as she reeled off six points in quick succession to close the opening game 21-17.

The second game was a completely one-sided affair as Sindhu didn’t give her opponent even a single chance to come close. From 3-all, Sindhu won four points in a row to take a strong lead of 7-3. This lead proved to be very crucial for the young Indian shuttler as she managed to hold on to it till the end and won game with ease by the score of 21-12.

Sindhu will now play the World No. 780 Chinese shuttler Qin Jinjing for a place in the championship match. Although a very low ranked player, the 17-year-old Jinjing has already stunned the World No. 26 Taipei shuttler and World No. 37 Chinese shuttler in first and quarterfinal rounds respectively.
