After the defeat of Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta in the Women’s Doubles and Arundhati Pantawane in the Women’s Singles, Indian smasher PV Sindhu crushed the World No.6 Korean shuttler Ji Hyun Sung on Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Women’s Singles category in the Yonex French Open 2013.

The World No.10 Sindhu looked calm and composed since the very inception of the match proceedings. The first game of the match started in favour of Ji Hyun Sung. Sindhu soon made a comeback and overruled the match. At an intermediate stage of the game, it was 12-8 in favour of Sindhu on the board but Sindhu had planned something even bigger. She displayed extraordinary skills on the court and bagged 9 consecutive points in her favour to crush the Korean contestant by 21-8.

Even after a balanced start, Ji Hyun Sung was unable to change the story in the second game of the match too. There were ups and downs initially but in the second half of the game, Sindhu was back in action. After 10-10 on the score board, Sindhu took no time to complete her 21 points and pummeled the World No.6 smasher Ji Hyun Sung. The match lasted for 29 minutes. This was Sindhu’s 17th win this year.

Last week, in the Yonex Denmark Open 2013, Ji Hyun Sung defeated Indian sensation Saina Nehwal to rule her out of the tournament. Hyun Sung was unable to repeat the magic in the Yonex French Open 2013 and crashed out against the World No.10 Indian shuttler PV Sindhu.

On the other hand, PV Sindhu was ruled out by the Japanese smasher Eriko Hirose in the Yonex Denmark Open 2013. It was the Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Grand Prix Gold 2013, when Sindhu won her last title in the Women’s Singles category. The tournament took place in May 2013. She defeated the Singapore opponent Juan Gu by 21-17, 17-21 and 21-19 in the Final of the tournament.
