India’s Sai Praneeth continued his impressive recent run, after defeating Jan Frohlich of Czech Republic 21-14 21-16 in 28 minutes in the second round of the 2015 Canada Open on Wednesday.
Game 1 saw both players, win 3 out of the first 6 points to tie at 3-3. They reached a deadlock, once again, few points later at 5-5 and it was Sai, who first broke it and then won 4 points straight to go 9-5 up. Following that 4-point win, The Indian assumed control l of the game, not letting his Czech Republican opponent take any advantage of the contest, by maintaining a sizeable lead at all times, to eventually take the game 21-14.
In the second game, Frohlich got off to a quick start, racing off to a 4-1 lead and then building on that advantage by winning 6 out of the next 10 points to got 10-5 up. But Sai, stormed back into the contest, winning 5 points on the trot to make it 10-10 and then began to control of the match, first by winning 4 points consecutively to go 14-11 up and despite Frohlich making a minor comeback to go 16-15 up, Sai won 6 points on the trot to take the game 21-16 and with it, the match as well.
He will now face Niluka Karaunaratne of Sri Lanka in the third round.
