Saina Nehwal breezes into India Open final

Nehwal will face Ratchaok Intanon in the Indian Open final

Star Indian shuttler and Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal made her way to the Championship match of the Yonex All India Open Super Series. Saina, who recently became the World No. 1 women’s singles shuttler defeated the World ranked 37 Japanese shuttler Yui Hashimoto 21-15 21-11 in just 43 minutes at the Siri Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi.

Top seeded Indian shuttler started the match on a positive note as she took a two points lead before the mid game interval of the opening game. After the interval Saina made a resounding start reeling off three straight points with a mix of her trademark crosscourt smashes and deft net shots.

Leading by 18-15, Saina reeled off next three points in quick succession to wrap up the opening game 21-15.

Second game was a completely one sided as Saina didn’t gave her opponent even a single chance to come close. From 3-2, Saina grabbed the next nine points to take a decisive lead. With such a huge lead in hand, Saina faced absolutely no difficulty in closing the game and the match.

Saina will now face the World ranked 8 Thai shuttler Ratchaok Intanon in the Championship match tomorrow.
