Yonex Japan Open roundup: Sindhu, Jayaram progress with emphatic wins

The Indian challenge in the Yonex Japan Open comprised of 11 players inclusive of two doubles team namely Sumeet Reddy and Manu Attri, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar; two women’s singles players in PV Sindhu and Tanvi Lad and five men’s singles challengers in Parupalli Kashyap, Ajay Jayaram, K Srikanth, Sai Praneeth and Saurabh Verma,

Upcoming star P.V. Sindhu put up a brilliant performance to move on to the next round while Tanvi Lad faltered.

Sai Praneeth and Sourabh Sharma also lost out on their first obstacle while Prannoy H.S., Ajay Jayram, Anand Pawar and Srikanth.K emerged victorious in their respective clashes.

Mixed doubles pair of Sumeet Reddy and Manu Attri also progressed to the next round.

The results of the Indian challenge are as follows:

Women’s Singles :

Sindhu P.V. [8] won against Yukino Nakai(Japan) :21-12, 21-13.

Tanvi Lad lost to Sayaka Takahashi(Japan) : 21-15, 21-10.

Men’s Singles :

Sai Praneeth lost against 8th seed Yun Hu[8](Hong Kong): 23-21, 21-18.

Srikanth .K won against Sho Sasaki(Japan) : 22-20, 22-24, 21-18.

Anand Pawar won against Sony Dwi Kuncoro(Indonesia) : 21-17, 7-21, 21-18.

Ajay Jayaram won against Tien Chen Chou(Chinese Taipei) : 21-11, 21-18.

Sourabh Varma lost to Jun Takemura (Japan) : 22-24, 21-19, 21-14.

Prannoy H.S. won against Wing Ka Wong(Hong Kong) : 15-21 21-17 24-22.

Mixed Doubles :

Sumeet Reddy and Manu Attri won against Hiroyuki Saeki and Ryota Taohata (Japan) :21-17, 21-15.
