Yonex Open 2013 kicks off with a spirited Day One

Yonex French Open 2013 proceedings started on 22nd October, 2013. The world’s top ranked players are fighting for the title in this tournament. Day one of this tournament was reserved for Qualification round and some matches of Men’s Single Category. The tournament will end on 27th October, 2013.

In the morning session of the day, Indian player Sai Praneeth B. in his first qualification round defeated the Finland player- Ville Lang by 21-14 and 21-15. Both games went in the favor of Indian player Praneeth. The match lasted for 30 minutes. In the beginning of the first game, Ville Lang was leading with a good margin. In the middle of the game, Praneeth recovered and leveled the score by 11-11. He continued his performance and won the game by 21-14. Lang lost this game even after making a lead of 7 points at the start of the match.

In the second game, the match looked balanced. In the second half of the game, Indian player played some good shots and won the game by 21-15. This marked a winning start for Indian contestants. It was a good day for the Indians as Anand Pawar, Srikanth K. and Sai Praneeth managed to clear this qualification round and enter the first round of the tournament to be held tomorrow. In the Women’s Singles category, Arundhati Pantawane gave a walk over to her opposition from Chinese Taipei. In the Mixed Double’s category Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy B. won in the first qualifier match but disappointed in the next hurdle against Denmark’s Mads Conrad Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding. They lost the match by 21-7 and 21-8.

In the first round of Men’s Singles, Ajay Jayaram, Kashyap Parupalli and Gurusaidutt R.V.M. will represent India in the evening session of day one of Yonex French Open 2013. They will try to forget their recent failures in Denmark open and start afresh for their medal hunt.
