2016 NBA Western Finals: Durant, Westbrook help Thunder take 2-1 lead

Action from the match between the Thunder and the Warriors

The Oklahoma City Thunder took a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference on Monday, after inflicting a 133-105 loss on the Golden State Warriors at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma.

Kevin Durant netted 33 points on the night and was well supported by Russell Westbrook with 30 points as the Thunder romped home to a 28-point win to take an early lead in the 7-match series.

It was an off-night for most portions of the night for the defending champs, barring Stephen Curry, who proved once again why he has been awarded the Most Valuable Player for second consecutive year , with 24 points but found no support from any of his other teammates.

Head coach Steve Kerr was straightforward in his assessment of his tam’s performance, stating, “ We got what we deserved,".

Westbrook, on the other hand, felt that the correction of errors from Game 2 and a few half-and-half baskets going their way, helped them seize the advantage in the series.

"That's one thing we slipped up on in Game 2, and I think tonight, we did a good job of getting loose balls and finding ways to get 50/50 basketballs and give ourselves extra possessions," he said.
